Trace-Guided Inductive Synthesis of Recursive Functional Programs
Offered By: ACM SIGPLAN via YouTube
Course Description
Overview
Explore a 20-minute video presentation from the PLDI 2023 conference that introduces a novel trace-guided approach for synthesizing recursive functional programs from input-output examples. Learn about the challenges of ambiguity and generalization in program synthesis and how the proposed method addresses them using recursion traces. Discover the new version space algebra (VSA) developed for efficient representation and manipulation of recursion trace-program pairs. Examine the implementation of this approach in the SyRup tool and its evaluation on benchmarks, demonstrating improved performance with fewer examples and reduced sensitivity to example quality compared to existing synthesizers. Access supplementary materials, including reusable artifacts, to dive deeper into this innovative research in program synthesis.
