Overview

Pharmacology is the branch of medicine concerned with the uses, effects, and modes of action of drugs. How exactly do drugs work? What do they do in the body? Why is this the best way to cure disease? How do specific drugs work?

In this playlist we will go over some basics first, and then go through a survey of drugs so that we can better understand what they do on a molecular level.

Introduction to Pharmacology.
Categorizing Drugs: Classes, Names, and Schedules.
Methods of Drug Administration.
Pharmacokinetics: How Drugs Move Through the Body.
Pharmacodynamics: Mechanisms of Drug Action.
Introduction to Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs).
Aspirin (Acetylsalicylic Acid).
Acetaminophen/Paracetamol (Tylenol).
Ibuprofen and Naproxen (Advil/Motrin/Aleve).
Celecoxib (Celebrex) and other COX-2 Selective Inhibitors.
Introduction to Antihistamines.
Introduction to Antirheumatics (DMARDs).
Methotrexate (Rheumatoid Arthritis Drug).
Glucocorticoids: Mechanisms and Side Effects.
