Space, Time, and Transport in Petrology and Geochemistry - Lecture 1
Offered By: AGU via YouTube
Course Description
Overview
Explore cutting-edge research on petrology and geochemistry in this 2-hour conference session from the 2012 AGU Fall Meeting. Delve into topics including diffusion of cations in garnet, isotope exchange in metamorphic rocks, lithium isotope fractionation in olivine, crystal growth rates in magmas, and more. Gain insights from invited talks on compositional controls on diffusion, equilibrium and kinetics in metamorphism, and zircon growth rates. Examine how atomistic simulations, geochemical analysis, and textural studies are advancing our understanding of element transport and timescales in geological processes. Access abstracts for each presentation to learn about the latest findings in space-time relationships and transport phenomena in petrology and geochemistry.
