Prime, Knots and the Adele Class Space
Offered By: Institut des Hautes Etudes Scientifiques (IHES) via YouTube
Course Description
Overview
Explore a groundbreaking lecture on the geometric framework connecting prime numbers and knots through the scaling site and its periodic orbits. Delve into the adele class space as the maximal abelian cover of the scaling site, and examine how the inverse image of periodic orbits relates to the abelianized étale fundamental group. Discover a functorial construction of finite covers of the scaling site associated with finite abelian extensions of Q, and understand their ramification and monodromy properties. This joint work by Alain Connes and C. Consani, presented at the Institut des Hautes Etudes Scientifiques (IHES), offers profound insights into number theory and topology over the course of 1 hour and 14 minutes.
