Course Description
Overview
The introductory level course on “Overview of Space Science” through SWYAM portal is mainly meant for UG students. The topics of the course are thematically arranged to address different facets of space science and technology like Earth and Near-Earth Space, Solar System Exploration, Space Mission Design and Observations, Astronomy, Astrophysics, Cosmology, as well as technological aspects like accessing the space, space instrumentation, etc. In addition to these, there will be lectures on Indian space exploration programme and research opportunities in the fields of space science and technology. It is expected that, through this course, the students will also be aware of the Indian contributions to the domains of space science and exploration. The National Education Policy 2020 paves the way ahead for many young aspiring students to be equipped with the right skillset. The policy will lead to a renewed focus on every field and this form of education will help students to learn and grow holistically. Thus, students will be equipped with stronger knowledge base. Ample opportunities exist in space research and this course provide you the opportunities to groom as space scientists and technologists of excellence. Tthis course will sow the seed of preparing future leaders to take forward the country’s space exploration programme
