Pediatric hip conditions can affect children at any age. If misdiagnosed or left untreated, these conditions can lead to future complications including arthritis in adulthood. This lecture will examine the risk factors of two common hip disorders in pediatrics – developmental dysplasia of the hip and slipped capital femoral epiphysis. Discussions will include the screening and physical examination involved in hip conditions and indications for further diagnostic imaging and specialized care.
