Dartmouth Health Continuing Education for Professionals Home, Nursing Grand Rounds “ Shattering Silence: Rape Trauma Circa 2021, 4/1/2021 8:00:00 AM - 4/1/2024 9:00:00 AM, This presentation is historically-based and reviews some of the high-profile cases over the years and the effects on the public™s view of rape. Examples of how nursing has advanced the field of forensics and victimology will be described. Also, the topic of sexual homicide will be addressed through a case from Mindhunter and from the forthcoming book by Burgess & Constantine, A Killer by Design based on Ann Burgess™ career and work with the FBI profilers at Quantico, VA.

At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to describe an historical perspective of rape including how nursing has advanced the field of forensics, victimology, and public perception of rape trauma.
