Course Description
Overview
The proposed course will cover the principles of use and interpretation of advanced imaging modalities across the major disciplines in dental medicine. It will present and critically discuss current guidelines, limitations, and potential future developments in Dento-Maxillofacial Radiology (DMFR) for CBCT imaging, including issues of correct interpretation and professional reporting. Oral Radiology is a fundamental diagnostic tool for most disciplines in dental medicine. Disciplines such as operative dentistry, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, periodontology, oral implantology, and oral surgery use radiographic imaging modalities daily to achieve accurate diagnoses and as a basis for treatment planning, as well as for follow-up and monitoring of outcomes. Hence, the proposed course will be relevant for dental professionals worldwide, providing an opportunity to learn from renowned experts in their respective fields about the daily use of CBCT, its limitations, and potential future applications. Additionally, the course will address and discuss aspects such as radiation dose protection.
