Course Description
Overview
This activity will use an asynchronous e-learning model to facilitate engagement of with high-impact updates in the primary care literature that will improve patient care.
This Cochrane review updated prior reviews on the topic from 2010 and 2015 to examine the impact of peridontal treatment versus usual care for glycemia control in diabetes mellitus. This 2022 update doubled the number of studies and participants from previous reviews and led to a change in the conclusions about the primary outcome of glycemia control and in their level of certainty in the conclusion.
Syllabus
After this activity, participants will be able to:
- Evaluate the link between periodontal health and glycemic control;
- Assess the importance of an oral exam as a routine part of a physical exam;
- Discuss the effectiveness of an oral exam for diabetes management.
