Course Description

Overview

This activity, in conjunction with the American College of Rheumatology, enlists rheumatology fellows-in-training to deliver an educational session about lupus to non-rheumatology healthcare providers to help them better recognize the signs and symptoms of lupus and improve timely and accurate referral to a rheumatologist for diagnosis and treatment.

Syllabus

After this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the presenting signs and symptoms of lupus;
  • Recall when to refer a suspected case of lupus to a rheumatologist;
  • Describe how to initiate a workup for lupus;
  • Discuss lupus epidemiology and health disparities;
  • State lupus disease characteristics and genetics.
