Demystifying Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Course Description
Overview
This activity, in conjunction with the American College of Rheumatology, enlists rheumatology fellows-in-training to deliver an educational session about lupus to non-rheumatology providers in order to help non-rheumatology healthcare providers better recognize the signs and symptoms of lupus and improve timely and accurate referral to a rheumatologist for diagnosis and treatment.
Syllabus
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify the presenting signs and symptoms of lupus;
- Recall when to refer a suspected case of lupus to a rheumatologist;
- Describe how to initiate a work-up for lupus;
- Discuss lupus epidemiology and health disparities;
- State lupus disease characteristics and genetics.
