The 3rd Annual Comer School Nurse Day will help school nurses and other clinicians enter the new school year prepared and equipped to provide the highest level of patient care. Especially with the ongoing burden of the COVID-19 pandemic, nurses must navigate new school health policies while prioritizing the best interests of their students. This activity will include a variety of short talks and panel discussions on topics vital to the success of school nurses and offer insight into different experiences a school nurse or clinician will encounter. It will also showcase the latest scientific information by experts in the field so participants can provide the highest level of care to the unique population they serve.

Syllabus
After this educational activity, participants will be able to:
- Recognize student mental health issues and solutions for addressing them in a school setting;
- Discuss the best practices for assisting students with chronic illnesses such as juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes in a classroom setting;
- Describe the most recent information for diabetes management and technology in school-aged children;
- Analyze the school nurse’s role in managing COVID-19 that aligns with a school’s best practices;
- Describe how to best approach sleep disorders in school-aged children;
- Identify solutions to managing students with anxiety and depression;
- Discuss the unique challenges school nurses face in treating under-resourced populations and potential solutions to these challenges.
