Returning to work isn't just a milestone. For most people, it is key to reclaiming life after an injury or illness. It means a person can return to normal life. At the same time, returning to work reduces the social, financial and emotional impact of an illness. However, the return to work process is not without hindrances and challenges.

- Core concepts of returning to work, including causes and consequences of work absence;
- Legislative frameworks on international, European and national levels;
- Real-life cases and action-oriented exercises related to returning to work;
- Set-up of an individualized return to work program;

- Personal skill training, including team management, motivational interviewing and conflict resolution.
By the end of this course, you’ll have acquired all necessary knowledge about return to work, you’ll have the competencies to effectively support employees in their individual process and you’ll know how to set up a disability management plan at the organizational level.
Syllabus
Module 1: Exploring concepts, numbers and theories
Explore the key concepts associated with return to work and disability management. Understand the causes, types, common disorders, figures, underlying factors and consequences of sickness absence and return to work, and learn about the benefits of a fit note compared to a sick certificate.
Module 2: Navigating the legal framework
Discover and navigate the different international, European and national legal frameworks and find out how these safeguards protect the rights of people in the workplace.
Module 3: Disability Management and Return To Work
Learn how to develop a disability management policy at the organizational level and how to set up an individualized return to work plan. Don’t miss out on how to overcome common challenges and hindrances, and get access to practical tools and step-by-step guidelines.
Module 4: Enhance Your Communication, Conflict & Change Management Skills
Equip yourself with the professional skills to help you implement all of the above, such as team management, motivational interviewing, conflict management and how to enhance motivation and competences among employees.
