Overview
Explore pathways to achieve net-zero emissions in this seminar on sustainable energy transition. Delve into the integration of energy systems and decarbonization of energy infrastructure, with a focus on bioenergy and thermochemical and biochemical transformation pathways. Examine the contribution of forest-based bioenergy to climate change mitigation in Quebec, Canada, using a techno-economic framework. Investigate the challenges and potential of Carbon Dioxide Removal technologies, including Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) and Direct Air Capture (DAC), as well as hydrogen as an alternative fuel. Gain insights from sophisticated models like TIMES energy system model to understand the current landscape and future prospects of energy transition. Learn about the development of the AD-MERGE integrated assessment model and its focus on hydrogen's role in global energy system decarbonization.
