Delve into the long-debated topic of common knowledge in the United States, examining cultural, historical, civic, and pop cultural facts, memes, and references that form the basis of shared understanding. Engage in a participatory session led by Eric Liu, Co-Founder and CEO of Citizen University and Executive Director of the Citizenship and American Identity Program at the Aspen Institute. Explore the importance of defining common knowledge amidst significant demographic and social shifts, and discuss how this shared understanding contributes to civic participation and the realization of democratic aspirations.
