Understanding Human Functioning and Enhancing Human Potential through Computational Methods
Offered By: Georgia Tech Research via YouTube
Course Description
Overview
Explore a comprehensive lecture on leveraging computational methods to understand and enhance human functioning. Delve into how these approaches complement, and even surpass, traditional methods in analyzing thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and social interactions. Discover the necessary role of computational methods in handling large datasets, their opportunistic potential in addressing novel questions, and their promise in facilitating change through automated models in closed-loop intelligent systems. Examine the benefits of multimodal computational approaches in analyzing diverse constructs across various interaction types and contexts. Follow a research program utilizing linguistic, paralinguistic, behavioral, and physiological signals to study individual, small group, multi-party, and human-computer interactions, both in laboratory and real-world settings. Learn about the goals of understanding cognitive, noncognitive, and socio-affective-cognitive processes while improving human efficiency, engagement, and effectiveness. Gain insights into the alignment of these concepts with the NSF National AI Institute on Student-AI Teaming and discover opportunities for involvement in this cutting-edge research.
