Monica Vazirani- Representations of the Affine BMW Category
Offered By: Hausdorff Center for Mathematics via YouTube
Course Description
Overview
Explore the intricacies of the BMW algebra and its role in mathematical representations in this lecture by Monica Vazirani. Delve into Walker's TQFT-motivated 1-handle construction of representations for the affine BMW category and algebra. Discover how these representations are "integral" and X-semisimple, or calibrated, and learn about their straightforward combinatorial description despite the topological nature of the construction. Gain insights into the BMW algebra's deformation of the Brauer algebra, its connection to the Hecke algebra of type A, and its significance in types B, C, and D, similar to the symmetric group in Schur-Weyl duality. This talk presents joint work with Kevin Walker, offering a comprehensive look at the representations of the affine BMW category.
