Models for Interdisciplinarity Inspired by Mathematical Biology
Offered By: Santa Fe Institute via YouTube
Course Description
Overview
Explore two frameworks for connecting disciplines in interdisciplinary quantitative spaces in this 45-minute seminar from the Santa Fe Institute. Delve into the "Rule-of-Five" model, which examines approaches to modeling across disciplines and subdisciplines, and how language and methods can be inclusive or exclusive. Investigate a second framework that views disciplines as mutualistically coevolving networks, using a complex adaptive systems approach to bipartite networks. Gain insights into improving interdisciplinary teaching and research through these mathematical biology-inspired models, presented by Carrie Diaz Eaton from Bates College.
