Mathematical Models and Tools for Personalized Medicine
Offered By: Institut Henri Poincaré via YouTube
Course Description
Overview
Explore a comprehensive lecture on mathematical models and tools for personalized medicine. Delve into two research projects: a predictive model for glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) growth and treatment response, and a mathematical model for tumor evolution during adoptive cellular therapy. Learn how patient-specific data from advanced imaging techniques is incorporated into these models to assist in optimizing individual therapeutic strategies. Discover how the GBM model was calibrated and validated using clinical data from 32 patients, and how it combines chemical and mechanical phenomena to aid in personalized neuro-oncology. Examine the diffuse-interface model for adoptive cellular therapy, which includes equations for nutrient concentration, engineered T cell trafficking, and chemical signaling. Gain insights into how these models are solved numerically using finite-element methods and applied to real-world scenarios, such as mouse prostatic adenocarcinoma. Understand the potential impact of these mathematical approaches in advancing precision medicine and improving patient outcomes.
