The Geodynamics of Plate Tectonics I
Offered By: AGU via YouTube
Course Description
Overview
Explore cutting-edge research on plate tectonics and mantle dynamics in this 1 hour 44 minute conference session from the 2012 AGU Fall Meeting. Delve into topics such as continental buoyancy's role in early Earth plate tectonics, the effects of Pangea's assembly and dispersal on global dynamics, seafloor dynamics in mantle convection models, and Earth's mantle dynamic history over the last 500 million years. Examine the relationship between supercontinental cycles and Earth's climate, analyze Wilson Cycle plate margins, and investigate mantle convection with strong plates and its impact on terrestrial planet tectonics. Gain insights from invited talks and presentations by leading researchers in geodynamics and plate tectonics.
