Multipole Orders in 5d Transition Metal Double Perovskites and Pyrochlores
Offered By: Erwin Schrödinger International Institute for Mathematics and Physics (ESI) via YouTube
Course Description
Overview
Explore multipole orders in 5d transition metal double perovskites and pyrochlores in this 40-minute talk from the Workshop on "Spin-Orbit Entangled Quantum Magnetism" at the Erwin Schrödinger International Institute. Delve into the emerging field of multipolar physics in 4d and 5d electron systems with strong spin-orbit interactions, focusing on double perovskites and pyrochlore oxides. Examine the quadrupolar order in Ba2MgReO6, including its response to external fields and related Re-based compounds. Investigate spin-orbit coupled metals, particularly the pyrochlore oxide Cd2Re2O7, its structural phase transitions, and odd-parity itinerant multipole order. Compare findings with the analogous Pb2Re2O7 and discuss the implications for understanding complex electronic orders in these materials.
