BVCM is one of the four elements of the Net-Zero Standard
The consultation process is structured around 9 topics
There is a need to provide more information on what activities and types of investments can fulfil company commitments to BVCM... there are a number of areas on which we're consulting
We intend to structure the BVCM guidance on the four steps below
We explore different approaches to allocating responsibility for BVCM to companies as well as the tension between "responsibility" and "ability" to pay
We are consulting on 3 possible methods that companies could use to determine the nature and scale of their commitment to BVCM
We are consulting on 6 Principles for step 3 to support companies in designing a BVCM portfolio
While claims are an important part of the business case for BVCM, they are also a source of risk for companies given the evolving regulatory landscape
There are a number of important developments in this space, including..
We utilized insights from a recent survey of 212 businesses and interviews with a further 25 to propose a set of incentive mechanisms
We highlight potential actions to remove barriers to investment in BVCM, and new incentives for promoting it
We have created 3 fictional case studies to help visualize how companies operationalize the SBTI's recommendations
