Apache SIS Library for Geospatial Applications
Offered By: The ASF via YouTube
Course Description
Overview
Explore the complexities of handling geospatial data accurately in this 22-minute conference talk by Martin Desruisseaux. Discover the challenges of mapping real-world information to digital data and learn about international standards published by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Gain insights into Apache SIS, a Java library that closely follows OGC/ISO standards, and its application in creating geospatial applications. Examine key standards such as ISO 19115 for metadata, ISO 19157 for data quality, and ISO 19111 for coordinate referencing and map projections. Understand the integration of referencing, metadata, and raster services in Apache SIS, and witness its capabilities through a demonstration of results from the OGC Testbed-19 project on geospatial applications in space. Conclude with a JavaFX application showcasing the library's functionalities, presented by an experienced geospatial developer with over 25 years of expertise in the field.
