Grand Challenges in Rock and Paleomagnetism
Offered By: AGU via YouTube
Course Description
Overview
Explore cutting-edge research in rock and paleomagnetism through this conference session from the AGU Fall Meeting 2018. Delve into frontiers in rock magnetism, the impact of atomic-scale properties on magnetic anomalies, and the use of big data to address fundamental questions in the field. Examine the characterization of global geomagnetic field behavior over the past 2 million years, current knowledge and uncertainties surrounding geomagnetic reversals, and a journey through Phanerozoic Earth history. Gain insights into topics such as pseudo-single domain behavior, vortex states in geological materials, magnetic thickness modeling, and the efficiency of magnetization. Explore micromagnetics, blocking temperatures, and hierarchical clustering techniques applied to paleomagnetic data analysis.
