Course Description
Overview
Explore an in-depth investigation into a covert network of preppers and state employees in Germany, uncovered by a team of taz journalists. Delve into the "Hannibal Affair," centered around an elite soldier from the Special Forces Command who organized nationwide chat groups and founded an association called "Uniter e.V." Learn about the discovery of a SEK police officer hoarding nearly 60,000 rounds of ammunition stolen from police stocks, and individuals compiling enemy lists with apparent plans to eliminate political opponents on "Day X." Gain insights into the extensive two-year investigation that spanned various fields, including constitutional protection authorities, the Bundeswehr, rural areas between Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Baden-Württemberg, Facebook profiles of Philippine politicians, and German conspirators' Telegram chats. Understand the initial reactions of shock and skepticism to these findings, and hear firsthand accounts from two reporters about their investigative process, encounters with preppers harboring overthrow fantasies, and constitutional protection employees arriving in black Porsche Cayennes. Discover the outcomes of their publications in political and judicial spheres, and explore remaining open questions, such as why there is no investigation into the formation of a terrorist organization.
