Overview
Explore a conference talk that delves into the plight of the "Snowden Refugees" in Hong Kong, who sheltered Edward Snowden during his time in the city. Learn about the systematic targeting and persecution these individuals have faced from the Hong Kong government since September 2016, following the release of Oliver Stone's film "Snowden." Discover how various government departments, including Social Welfare, Immigration, and the police, have been involved in efforts to harass, oppress, and deport these refugees. Examine the dangerous situations awaiting Vanessa and her stateless daughter in the Philippines, as well as the Sri Lankan refugees if deported to their home country.
