Object Process Methodology (OPM) for Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

What you'll learn:
  • Familiarity with Systems.
  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering.
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Familiarity with Object Process Methodology (OPM).

Hi guys, Joshua Sutherland here and welcome to this course on Object Process Methodology (OPM) for Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Learn how engineers can logically describe the systems they are designing. We do this using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

The big ideas we explore are:

  1. Systems Engineering enables the successful realization, use and retirement of engineered systems.

  2. Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) enables us to do Systems Engineering by utilizing a consistent model of our system.

  3. To make a model we need:
    1. Purpose(s) 2. Methodology(ies); 3. Language(s); 4. Tool(s)

  4. OPM is an example of a conceptual modeling language

  5. OPM describes a system with both a diagram and text simultaneously

  6. Key building blocks of OPM are:
    Objects, Processes & States

  7. We then link these things together

I have applied this method in with companies and individuals from Japan to Great Britain with fantastic results, and personally this is one of my favourite approaches to describe and design systems.

Who is this course for?

  1. Anyone wanting to learn how engineers logically design technical products

  2. Anyone with an interest in Systems

  3. Anyone with an interest in Systems Engineering

  4. Anyone with an interest in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

  5. Anyone with an interest in OPM

  6. Anyone wanting to learn new languages and ways of communicating

I am very excited to share the approach with you and aid you in your own business or personal development and really looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Good luck to you all on this course!
