German for You A1/A2: A German Language Course for Beginners

Learn German from a beginner to an elementary level: Deutsch für Anfänger. Native German tutor, explanations in English.

Welcome to my course!

The focus of this course is being able to understand German and express yourself in German on a beginner to elementary level.

After an introductory section (some familiar words, pronunciation, numbers, and useful facts about German), we will work with very simple sentences straight away, and then you will learn the German grammar along these simple sentences.

The lectures are mostly bite-sized and have pictures to help you remember all the new things you learn.

For each topic there are lectures that solely contain examples. Use the pauses in between to repeat the sentences. You can also adjust the speed setting on the Udemy video player (bottom left: 1x) if you feel that things are going too fast (or too slow).

There are practice lectures, quizzes, exercises (e.g. translations, sentence building) and some additional downloadable material, which you can find by clicking on the 'Resources' buttons in the lectures overview on the right side of the video player.

Later into the course, you will find a complete collection of all A1 vocabulary. Your main source of vocabulary will be the lectures; this is just an addition for you to check for gaps systematically in case you have an upcoming test.

At the end of the course, you can check your progress by taking a big final test that covers the whole course content.

(This course does not contain direct preparation for standardized language tests, i.e. mock tests.)

This course will greatly support you in not only taking your first steps in German but to actually dive in.
