Overview
This course provides a brief review of introductory algebra topics. Topics to be covered include integer operations, order of operations, perimeter and area, fractions and decimals, scientific notation, ratios and rates, conversions, percents, algebraic expressions, linear equations, the Pythagorean theorem, and graphing.
Why Take This Course?
At the end of this course students will have reviewed the core topics of introductory algebra. Students will be comfortable with the concepts and procedures of introductory algebra, and be able to apply their knowledge to other coursework and real-world problems.
During this course, you will review
Integer operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and absolute value.
Evaluating using order of operations.
Associative and Commutative properties.
Perimeter and area of rectangles, triangles, squares, and circles.
Fraction operations including simplifying, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
Converting between fractions, decimals, and percents.
Rounding decimals to appropriate place value.
Converting between standard notation and scientific notation.
Rates and ratios.
Unit conversions.
Simplifying and evaluating algebraic expressions.
Using the Pythagorean Theorem.
Solving and graphing linear equations.
Writing linear equations.
