Overview
Amid the current business climate, there’s growing recognition that there needs to be a fundamental shift from a focus on financial gains to an emphasis on creating value for society. A new approach is required that brings a sense of responsibility to communities and the environment to the forefront, and that prioritizes inclusive and ethical management.
The University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business (GSB) Values-Based Leadership professional certificate will introduce you to what it means to be a leader with solid values. It’s designed to help you create a world-class, values-driven organization, and cultivate a business culture of sincerity, loyalty, and self-sufficiency to enhance team productivity. You’ll learn what it takes to steer a company through the Management by Values (MBV) approach, and acquire strategies to become a more effective leader that empowers and motivates others around a shared purpose.
Syllabus
Course 1: Introduction to Values-Based Leadership
Unpack the need for values-based leadership and learn what this means both within and external to the business context.
Course 2: Adopting a Values-Based Approach in an Organization
Manage complex environments and learn practical ways of implementing values in an organization.
Course 3: Becoming a Values-Based Leader
Identify the elements of values-based leadership while practicing tangible methods to develop these qualities.
