In this lab, you will learn how the EC2 Serial Console can be used to access instances without network connectivity. The serial console enables users to troubleshoot boot, network configuration, and other issues. With the serial console, users can enter commands to an instance as if their keyboard and monitor were directly attached to the instance's serial port.

Course Objectives

In this course, you will learn how to:

  • Configure an FTP server using vsftpd and firewalld
  • Enable Serial Console at the account level
  • Connect to an EC2 instance using Serial Console
  • Use Remote Desktop (RDP) to connect to an Amazon EC2 instance running Windows Server

Prerequisites

We recommend that attendees of this course have the following prerequisites:

  • Familiar with Linux, networking, and have a basic knowledge of AWS
  • A remote desktop client installed on your local machine
