Course Description
Overview
An essential part of the UX design process is measurement and validation. This course will provide an overview of the methods available for measuring the success of a design including A/B testing, surveys, and usability testing. It will specifically deep dive into usability testing so that students will learn about what’s involved in running such a test, from preparing a test plan to presenting actionable findings.

Introduction
We begin with an overview of the 3 phases of research - Generative, Tactical, and Evaluative. We’ll discuss the types of questions you should be asking and what kinds of research methods are most appropriate for each one.

Running a Usability Study
Now that we’ve discussed how to prepare for a usability test, it’s time to learn how to run one. Here, we’ll observe a study in action and use it to discuss best practices and techniques. We’ll then begin to analyze the results and present strategies on how to write up a strong report. We’ll conclude with an overview of guerilla testing, a closely-related research method used during extremely tight timelines.
