The world of work is changing rapidly. The pandemic has accelerated and exposed a need for everyone to develop better digital skills regardless of where they work.

On this program, you’ll explore core in-demand digital skills, set goals for your professional development, as well as learn how to create an online CV and professional presence.

Enhance your emotional intelligence to improve your wellbeing

Technological change is impacting not only where people work, but also how employees engage with their colleagues and how businesses relate to, motivate, and engage their staff.

This program will enable you to delve deeper into the value of emotional intelligence for employee wellbeing in the digital workplace.

You’ll explore how emotional intelligence helps us to understand ourselves and others, resolve conflict, and build better relationships.

Increase your productivity

You’ll also consider the impact these changes may have on employee engagement and motivation, and discover strategies to keep you and your team productive.

Better understand the behaviour of your colleagues, managers and direct reports

You’ll be introduced to key approaches, concepts and issues around organisational behaviour and how it impacts you as an employee or manager.

-Find your purpose and identify the career skills you need to upskill in your sector or to seek a new job online.

    Explore the meaning of emotional intelligence

    What is emotional intelligence, and why is it important? On this course, you’ll explore how emotional intelligence influences not only our relationships with others but also with ourselves.

    As well as exploring the origins of emotional intelligence, you’ll also learn about the key theorists who have attempted to define, develop and discuss this fascinating construct.

    Discover why emotional intelligence is so important

    Emotional intelligence is a sought-after skill. You’ll learn about how it’s different from ‘traditional’ intelligence, as well as how it can be used to develop relationships and guide self-development.

    To give a balanced view of the subject, you’ll also look at some of the criticisms of emotional intelligence research.

    Develop your emotional intelligence skills

    By exploring the emotional intelligence definition and some of the key concepts surrounding it, you can develop your own emotional intelligence skills.

    Understanding how a business behaves can help us to understand how a business works - and how it can be made to work better. We call this discipline organisational behaviour.

    On this course, you’ll explore the key approaches, concepts and issues in organisational behaviour - and how they apply to you. You’ll investigate why people act as they do, along with how managers can prevent workplace misbehaviour.

    Ultimately, you’ll develop a better comprehension of how everyone in your organisation (including you) behaves and interacts. This will help you and your organisation to work better.

    Create an online CV and build your professional online presence

    Alongside expert progression coaches and student experience officers, you’ll build valuable knowledge around how to use technology to your professional advantage.

    You’ll explore what makes a successful online presentation, how to write a CV and covering letter to share online, as well as digital tricks and tips to help you find your purpose and identify what employers want.

    You’ll benefit from access to an online community of learners to support you along the way, as well as the professional resources you need to help you take control of your career.

    This course is designed for anyone who would like to improve their online and digital skills, as well as their soft skills like communication, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, adaptability and resilience.

    You should be able to complete the course using just a mobile phone, but it would be beneficial to have a tablet or laptop with a keyboard to enable you to write longer documents such as CVs and covering letters, for which you will need word processing software such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs.

    There is also at least one optional activity in which you are encouraged to video yourself giving a short presentation. A mobile phone that allows you to record short videos will be sufficient for this.

    This course explores these changes in depth and assesses what they may mean for teams, groups and the employment relationship, as well as the impact they may have on employee engagement and motivation.

    This course is for people who wish to discover the importance of employment relationships and the importance motivation and engagement has in the workplace.
