On this three-week course, you’ll build a strong foundational knowledge of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
You’ll learn theories and concepts that are useful if you are considering embarking on a full TESOL course as it gives you the opportunity to sample the MA TESOL offered at Edge Hill University.
The knowledge you acquire on the course will also help advance your professional development as an English language teacher.

You’ll discover language teaching methodologies that prove successful in the classroom, to help improve your learning experience and achieve great results with your students.
You’ll also explore current advances in material design to help you create lessons with learner needs in mind.
Explore the concept of second language acquisition
Delving into theories of second language acquisition, you’ll learn about the role of individual differences in language learning success.
You’ll critically evaluate these theories to gain an understanding of what it takes to learn a second language.
Gain a solid introduction to linguistics
Throughout the course, you’ll be introduced to the study of linguistics.
You’ll learn through a variety of methods including lectures, up-to-date reading, and interactive tasks to help cement your learning.

You may have a degree in teaching or another subject, or you may just have an interest in embarking on a full degree through to Masters in the field.
