Overview

TS-5: Ecology, Environment and Tourism is a 08 Credits Course offered in the BTS programme of the School, i.e. School of Tourism and Hospitality Services Management, IGNOU. The course consists of 09 blocks and 31 Units.As the name of the course suggests, this course is about the interlinkage between environment and tourism.We now understand that the protection of the environment whiledeveloping tourism is a challenge. It is pertinent that we concern ourselves with the ecological stress upon tourism development and tread carefully to ensure that environmental degradation from reckless growth of tourism is checked. This course reflects upon these changing concerns. In this course we will discuss and learn the measures by which the Adverse effect on the ecology and environment, specially due to tourism can be checked and averted, while at the same time ensuring that the overall tourism quality and experience is improved.
