Overview

Recommended on courses across the academic disciplines Philosophy of History of Literature has been accepted as the essential introduction to the area of literary study. The course begins by questioning what we understand by the term History of Literature followed by weekly modules of the course. This course encourages the learners to consider the relationship between literature from a variety of historical periods, contexts and theories. All texts taught in this course will be available in Hindi language only, obviously the intended audience will be the student having minimum qualification to be admitted in M.A. (HINDI) in Indian universities. The course deftly introduces:• Key features of the ideologies and theories of history of literature.• The relationship of history of society and history of language to the history of literature.• Challenges to history of literature particularly in contemporary world.• Issues of translation, manuscript, folk literature and dialects in history of literature. On completion of the course the learners will be able to:• Reflect critically on concepts of Philosophy of History of Literature and to develop an independent view of the subject.• Understand the continuities and discontinuities between literary traditions across centuries.• Explain literary tradition, trends and development chronically.
