Course Description

Overview

This course on Microbial genetics will have discussions on the different basic aspects of genetics spread over 34 modules. The course content will include genome organization and different types, advantages, applications of mutation and mutagens. It will cover different types, host range, curing, replication, purification, incompatibility of Plasmids and the mechanism of genetic exchange among microbes by recombination and the process of conjugation, transformation and transduction. The genetics of T4 bacteriophage and that of Transposable elements in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems would also be discussed.
