ABOUT THE COURSE: Statistical methods play a crucial role in psychological research. The course offers a paradigm in understanding of psychological phenomena. Research Methodology courses impart training in basic and applied research, hypothesis types, Sampling techniques, psychological tests and field experiments. It equips students with essential skills to understand, conduct and critically evaluate research, thereby, contributing significantly to their success in the field of Psychology and related discipline. It facilitates students with skills like- research design, choosing samples, controlling confounding variables, at the same time addressing biases thus enhancing the quality and reliability of research outcome.INTENDED AUDIENCE: UG/PGPREREQUISITES: Intermediate

Research ProcessWeek 4:Meaning and functions of research designWeek 5:Need for research design, Features of good research design: Flexibility, efficient, economical, controlling errorWeek 6:Reliability and ValidityWeek 7:Introduction to sample and population, Types of Sampling: Probability and Non probabilityWeek 8:Probability techniques of SamplingWeek 9:Non Probability techniques of Sampling. Sampling error and Sampling biasWeek 10:Observation, Psychological tests, Interview and its typesWeek 11:Questionnaires : Validity, Reliability and Generalization.
