Convective Heat Transfer:Fundamentals and Applications
Offered By: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay via Swayam
Course Description
Overview
Convective heat transfer is seen in a variety of applications ranging from mico/nano scale systems to mega scale systems such as nuclear reactors. It is also seen in chemical and metallurgical industries
This is a first level PG level course on Convective Heat Transfer. The course aims to start from the basics of the topic and proceed to concepts and methods that are typically seen in a PG curriculum. Scaling - a very powerful technique is first introduced in the topics that are typically covered in the UG level course. This helps students realize why a particular correlation has a particular form. Next, the course introduces the solution methodologies - Integral method and Similarity method, which are quite powerful solution methods for a wide range of problems.
Natural Convection has been dealt quite extensively in this course. An encapsulated version of Two Phase (mainly Boiling) heat transfer is also presented in 6-7 modules. Roughly 15% of the course focusses on Applications, a topic itself can be a full course in itself.
