BFDI-072: Basics of Pattern Making and Sewing

This course is meant for beginners who are keen to work in the field of Fashion Designing and for those who want to start their own entrepreneurship. This course provides a basic understanding of pattern making skills, sewing techniques and tools which are being used for garment construction. At present, many technologies and tools are being used for pattern making therefore, it become necessary to understand basics of pattern making and sewing techniques. This particular course discusses about pattern making, sewing, techniques and practical activities in the context of body measurements, marking and hand stitching. The course on “Basics of Pattern Making and Sewing” aims to develop a good knowledge and understanding of garment construction skill and sewing techniques.

Activity 3 and 4: Create patterns with all makings and Practice on the use of French Curve and other tools for arm hole, Neckline etc

Activity 5 and 6: Working with fabric grain and Basic Hand Stitches

Activity 7 and 8: Practice of threading, oiling and handling and care of the sewing machine and machine control exercise.

Week 11

Activity 9 and 10: To Identify perfect seam and Samples of Plain Seam and its finishing

Week 12

Activity 11 and 12: Samples of Various Seams and Samples of disposal and control of fullness.
