Overview

ABOUT THE COURSE: Adolescence is a nutrition-sensitive phase of growth.The current generation of adolescents is growing up at a time of unprecedented change in food environments.Even if the nutritional problems of micronutrient deficiency and undernutrition persist, overweight and obesity are increasing rapidly.Nutritional status in adolescent development extends beyond musculoskeletal growth to cardiorespiratory fitness, neurodevelopment and immunity. High rates of early adolescent pregnancy in many countrieshampers the growth and nutrition of female adolescents, which affectthe nutritional status of next generation. This course will provide a basic concept of nutrition& wellbeing, normal physiology and metabolic demands of adolescents, special needs of this age group, behavioral modifications to acquire healthy habits and a guide to get optimum growth and development during this period. It will encompass a holistic care of adolescent age group.INTENDED AUDIENCE: Students, Professionals of developmental institutions, IITs, Health and Nutrition professionals, frontline workers, Nursing students, PG students in Community Medicine, Students from allied health disciplines, Researchers working in food science, familieshaving adolescent as family member etc.PREREQUISITES: Graduate degree in any health science discipline or allied disciplineINDUSTRY SUPPORT: NGOs working in healthsector, public healthorganizations, Health service sector of state and central governments (It will be beneficial for the Medical Officers and frontline health workers who are involved in Public Health system).
