Recently the quality of higher education in general and engineering education, in particular, has drawn considerable attention. In view of the expansion of engineering education over the last three decades and in the backdrop of growing suboptimal levels of employability, quality assurance of engineering education has assumed greater significance. Recognizing the need to overhaul the education system, the NEP-2020 has come out with path-breaking reforms in higher education. Some of these include learning outcome focus, Accreditation & quality assurance, and multidisciplinary holistic education to develop world-class citizens with roots in Indian ethos. Higher education is thus poised to become quality focused with emphasis on attainment of learning outcomes. Proper understanding of the quality of education is the first step to developing quality outcomes. However, education quality draws divergent views.
