Paint a Watercolor Sunset: Beginner's Step by Step Guide

In this class you will learn how to paint a watercolor sunset! This class is open for beginners, we will go step by step, and you will be able to complete a painting of your own.

In this class you will learn to paint:

1. Watercolor gradients

• How to blend colors smoothly while controlling the amount of water to paint ratio
• How to mix and choose different color combinations such as an analogous or complementary color palette.

2. A complete sunset painting

• How to paint soft clouds using a wet on wet technique (painting on a wet layer)
• How to complete a sunset painting from sketch to finish, adding silhouette details and water reflections.

Outline of what we will do: We will first begin by going over the specific tools and supplies we will need in watercolor. After that, we will do some practice gradients, I will explain the different techniques from choosing colors, to painting even strokes and how to control the water to paint ratio. We will then move on to our sunset painting, applying what we learned and start from planning, sketching, to painting.
