Gouache For Beginners: Creating The Illusion Of Light
Offered By: Skillshare
Course Description
Overview
In this class we will address the most popular problem when painting - which is creating the illusion of light. The intense contrast that is represented in paintings full of light is very captivating and makes them extremely appealing to the audience.
It's obvious that the light is indicated by the shadows - the minute you lay the shadows in your painting they fill it with light. So it's accurate to say that to paint light we have to learn how to paint shadows.
In this class you will find:
- A short but efficient guide to the colour wheel that explains in theory and in practice a way to mix beautiful shadows. No boring general words, just the information we need to use in class.
- A very detailed explanation on how to create particular shadow mixes we will be using during class
- A meticulous demonstration on how to fill your sketch with colour to create the illusion of light along with the explanation on how to mix each colour that we are using during class.
- Apart from that a detailed demo on how to build your sketch: planning the composition, easy way to get your proportions right.
Enclosed please find:
- A scan of the initial sketch that you can print out, trace on the paper and skip the sketching part all together and just get straight to the colour.
- The reference photo.
- The finished painting you can use as a guide.
