Overview
Apply the systematic Lean Six Sigma method and tools to increase the quality and availability of your products and services and lead your process to sustainable operational excellence.
Within the course program of the TUM Lean Six Sigma Green Belt for employees, you will:
- Identify, implement, and evaluate an individual Business Project of your organization.
- Drive along the DMAIC phases, guided by our digital and personal resources.
We will stop at every important Sigma tool, which you will then apply in practice and document in your project storybook. These results will be reviewed at each DMAIC milestone and serve as the basis for individual coaching and your certification.

Digital Guidance : Our videos, the related eBook, our software sigmaGuide and the tasks introduce every step of your project.
Personal Guidance - we will accompany your project individually in three different formats:
- DMAIC Phase Reviews: After each of the 5 DMAIC phases, we will review the results in your project storybook, correct errors, show alternatives, and suggest the next steps.
- Project Coaching: Coaching takes place at defined points in DEFINE, MEASURE, and ANALYSE to guide your project methodically.
- Green Belt Lectures: Our online Green Belt lectures reinforce specific topics. Each lecture series consists of 16 one-hour Zoom sessions, held on Tuesdays at 8:00 UTC and 15:00 UTC, here: https://tum-conf.zoom.us/j/96975983511 Passcode: 122362. Check it out!
You will additionally acquire the basics of digital Lean competence with our interactive process mining module.

Syllabus
Part 1: Introduction
Introduction to Lean Six Sigma as a company-wide improvement program.
Part 2: DEFINE
Identification and definition of a suitable Six Sigma project, structuring the project field (SIPOC), translating Voice of Customer (VoC) into prioritized CtQ’s (Y), summarized in a Project-Charter, supplemented by a Stakeholder-Communication-Plan.
Part 3: MEASURE
Input- and Process-Analysis for identifying influences (x) of the problems (Y). Determination of the relationships between influences (x) and problems (Y) (C&E-Matrix), as the basis for hypotheses. Operationalization of measurands for x and Y (Data-Collection-Plan).
Part 4: ANALYZE
Data evaluation and graphical display of data, control charts, and process capability, test of hypotheses with non-parametric and parametric tests, integrated qualitative and quantitative root cause analysis (Fault-Tree).
Part 5: IMPROVE
Development and selection of solutions to eliminate, adjust or circumvent the root causes (x´), specification of related actions, risks, and development of countermeasures (FMEA).
Part 6: CONTROL
Data evaluation and graphical display of data, before-after comparisons in control charts, performance indices, and tested effect size, derivation of financial benefits, Process-Management-Plan.
Part 7: Project Conclusion
Lessons learned, completion of the project storybook, and final project review.
