Data Transformation with Power Query in Microsoft Excel
Offered By: Pluralsight
Course Description
Overview
Power Query adds significant data preparation capabilities to many of Microsoft’s most popular data products. This course will teach you to connect, transform, combine, and load data from various sources using Power Query with Microsoft Excel.
Often the data required for analysis is spread across sources not easily dropped into Excel. In fact, Microsoft estimates that users spend 80% of their time prepping data as opposed to analyzing it. Power Query extends the reach of Excel, giving users a familiar way to access various types of data in its many forms and ease the preparation process. In this course, Data Transformation with Power Query in Microsoft Excel, you’ll gain the ability to access and transform various types of data so that it can be utilized directly in Excel. First, you’ll explore connecting to many different sources of data including data in all shapes, sources, and sizes, and even learn to create custom connectors. Next, you’ll discover how to transform data from things as simple as changing column names and data types to merging, sorting, aggregating, and pivoting data. Finally, you’ll learn how to load your transformed data back into Excel. When you’re finished with this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge of using Power Query needed to successfully extract, transform, and load data right into Excel as well as gain a familiarity with Power Query that is transferable to the many other Microsoft products that are Power Query enabled.
