This course will teach you the importance of a respectful workplace and ways to build and support a respectful workplace culture.

Whenever people with varying backgrounds, experiences, world views, cultures, or other differences in general combine, there can be tension and strong emotions, especially when deadlines loom and tensions are high. In this course, senior management consultant and coach Dr. Don Gilman will show you how to engage with others respectfully. First, explore new terms and expand your understanding of familiar terms that are often cited in workplace safety and harassment legislation. Next, unpack unconscious bias - how it works, and how to identify and address it in the workplace so that employees will experience healthy and effective relationships. Finally, learn to engage bystanders as active proponents of workplace respect, and helpful actions they can take for their own behalf and for others. After this course, you’ll be able to examine the motivations and actions that contribute to a respectful workplace, and how you can implement these actions in your own situations.
