Course Description
Overview
All personnel responding to Ebola outbreaks need to have basic knowledge and skills in order to mount an effective response. The GO training package was developed for WHO deployees so they can work safely and effectively as part of the teams bringing outbreaks under control. The learning package consists of 7 modules, which include video lectures and downloadable presentations that have been updated with the latest information and developments. It begins with an introduction to Ebola disease before moving to the response strategy and essential information related to working for WHO. The GO materials are designed to complement the ePROTECT training, which is available here: https://openwho.org/courses/e-protect.
Please note that this course is now being updated. Therefore not all 7 modules are available. You will be notified once the updated content is available. You are encouraged to refresh your knowledge of WHO SOPs for Emergencies by enrolling “WHO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Emergencies”, which is mandatory to all WHO deployees to respond to emergencies.

Certificates: A record of achievement will be provided to participants who score 80% or higher on each assessment. You have an unlimited number of attempts to meet the threshold. Course contents
Module 1: Introduction to Ebola:
In this module, you will become familiar with the modes of Ebola transmission, incubation period, signs and symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, as well as measures to prevent the transmission of Ebola.Module 2: The Response Strategy and its Implementation through the IMS:
This module provides an example of a Strategic Response Plan from the 2018 Ebola outbreak in the Equateur Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and outlines the key features of the WHO Incident Management System.
