Overview
Portfolio Management Professional Certificate helps students to develop core competencies in portfolio management. You will learn how to conduct portfolio performance measurement and attribution and review portfolio strategies for a variety of asset classes including fixed income, equity and alternatives.

At the end of this program, you will need to sit for the Portfolio Management Professional Certificate Examination and score a minimum of 70% to receive the NYIF Mastery Certificate in Portfolio Management. Note: To be eligible to sit for the Portfolio Management Professional Certificate Examination, you MUST complete all 5 courses (listed above) and pass the final exam for each course with a minimum grade of 70%.

Course 1: Fixed Income Portfolio Management
Learn how to construct and manage fixed income portfolios using the latest tools and techniques.
Course 2: Equity Portfolio Management
Develop core competencies in portfolio management, including portfolio construction and performance measurement.
Course 3: Hedge Funds
Understand the structure and operation of hedge funds and the regulation of the hedge fund industry. Learn how to evaluate hedge fund performance.
Course 4: Portfolio Management - Theory & Practice (Part 1)
Learn how to conduct portfolio performance measurement and attribution.
Course 5: Portfolio Management - Theory & Practice (Part 2)
Review portfolio strategies for a variety of asset classes including fixed income, equity and alternatives.
Course 6: Portfolio Management Professional Certificate Examination
Complete the required exam to earn your professional certificate in Portfolio Management from the New York Institute of Finance.

This course is designed to introduce you to the complex discipline of portfolio management. The course gives you an insight into the practice and theory of portfolio management. You'll be taught from the perspective of allocators who need to balance risk and return.
The course helps address the overwhelming importance of Modern Portfolio Theory, and delves into quantitative measurements of risk and return like the Sharpe ratio. This course also introduces students to the practical world of investment management. Significant course time is spent on understanding the risk/return tradeoffs that are sought by a Portfolio Manager’s client or superior.
We will also review Investment Policy Statements, understand the need for clear and concise communication and the balance of quantitative and qualitative factors when determining investment decisions.
Finally, Portfolio Management covers the spectrum of investment options all the way from ETFs to direct venture investments. This course will show you how all these various instruments are capital market tools that a PM can use to achieve a discipline and well thought out investment strategy.

The exam comprises 30 questions, timed at 60 Minutes. To qualify for the certificate, learners must receive a grade of at least 70% or better.

This course has been created to give students like you an introduction to hedge funds, one of the premier alternative investments available to allocators around the world. This course will give you an insight from the perspective of the professional investor in the space.
In addition, you will come to understand how hedge funds function as an industry. Special attention will be given to the infrastructure and mechanics of the hedge fund space. You will learn about fee arrangements, liquidity constraints and the legal structures investors use to access hedge funds. An in-depth analysis of all hedge fund strategies, from equity long short to distressed will be discussed in this course. A case study of an institutional investment in a hedge fund will give you special insight into how sophisticated investors invest-and divest from an investment.
We'll wrap up this course with a module on current trends in the industry, from stagnant asset growth to the increasing proliferation of artificial intelligence technology and its impact on the industry and markets as a whole. Overall, this course will demystify hedge funds, making them more transparent to those who have not been previously exposed to the space.
