Course Description

Overview

The Leadership and Management in Education Professional Certificate program will develop your skills in leading, supporting, and positively transforming learning organisations.

You will acquire skills in
  • leadership techniques
  • coaching
  • communication
  • change management
  • conflict resolution, and
  • stakeholder engagement.

You will learn what high-quality leadership looks like in multiple industry contexts, review current research in educational leadership, and apply your new skills in the workplace. You will craft an organisational vision and develop a personal action plan to implement now, and in the future.

The program has been developed by Professor John Fischetti and Dr Scott Imig, with over 50 years of experience between them in improving the preparation of educators and the quality of teaching and learning in classrooms around the world.

Syllabus

Courses under this program:
Course 1: Developing Your Educational Leadership and Management Vision

Develop your leadership and management skills to establish a school vision, support your staff and make meaningful change in your school or organisation.



Course 2: Applying Strategic Leadership in Education

Learn strategic leadership perspectives and practices and how to apply them in your workplace. Investigate the transformative behaviours and beliefs of leaders aligned with your current educational organisation.



Course 3: Leading Transformative Change in Education

Develop a comprehensive plan for increasing your personal leadership capacity to effect meaningful change now and into the future.

    What kind of leader are you? Are you equipped to transform your learning organisation into the place you know it can be? In this course, we investigate leadership styles, best practices and philosophies that challenge you to develop your leadership capacity.

    You will be guided in evaluating your leadership strengths and opportunities for growth, and will develop a personal leadership philosophy and vision. Strategic management theory and practice will be introduced and examined in the school context.

    This course is aimed at school teachers in leadership roles who are looking to advance their career as a:

    • head teacher
    • assistant or deputy principal
    • principal
    • organisational leader
    • or in educational policy or advisory roles.

    This course certificate offers 12 hours of high-quality professional development for current and aspiring leaders. It may be used by participants to apply in their school systems for professional learning credit.
